This week, I thought I’d showcase my weekly planning method for grocery shopping. I don’t think I have any ground-breaking protocol, but here goes:
I begin by listing out the days of the week, and filling in any special events or activities we have going on that may require food, or may keep us from eating a normal dinner at home. Sometimes I do this by hand, other times it’s with the Sticky Note widget on my MacBook. Here’s what that looked like this week:
Then, I go through and fill out the food I need to remember for said events:
Then, I create my shopping list. I separate the list by stores, so I know exactly what I’m getting at each stop. If I’m making any specific recipes, I go through the ingredients and make sure I add any that we don’t have to the list. Then, I add our staples to the list as well.
Then, I print this list (or if it’s hand-written, I just take it with me!), and head to the store.
Thanks to Laura at I’m an Organizing Junkie for hosting Menu Plan Monday once again!
